If you find yourself comparing yourself with others or trying to match up with their lives and achievements (or even worse: their clothes), then maybe this isn’t the relationship for you!

    Be open-minded about friendships; there is no set way of being a good friend (or anything else). Your friends may choose different hobbies than yours; they may have different friends than yours; they might even live in another city altogether! But whatever happens between two people is only as good as how much each person wants it—and vice versa.

    There are two big things you can do to keep things healthy in your friendship. First, be aware of your boundaries and don’t be afraid to set them if someone crosses them. You might say no when a friend asks for something that’s too much of an imposition or ask if they need help with something (even if it’s not a big deal). If they ask why you’re saying no, just say “It’s not my place.” They’ll respect that answer as long as they understand what else could have been said instead (for example: “I’m sorry this request is coming from such an important person in my life”).
